On the left hand side of the Home page, you will see the hours of PTO and hours of Maryland Sick & Safe (MD S/S) Leave you have available.
You can use the PTO Calculator to see your PTO accrual rate and amount available for future dates.
Now that you know how many hours you have available you can begin to plan for your vacation!
WARNING: Do not request to use your PTO before being approved for time off through the WhenToWork scheduling site.
Log in to your WhenToWork account.
On the app:
1. On the Menu page, Select the "Time Off" tab from the choices.
2. You then can select and see any pending or approved time off that you currently have, or request new time off.
You have the option of requesting off a full day or only a partial day.
3. On the calendar page, the dates that are red are blocked days. This means that the maximum number of
requests for that day have already been approved. You can select any dates that are in white. Adding a
comment/reason is optional.
4. Once you have completed your request, press the "Send Request" button. Your supervisor will be notified of
your request and you will be alerted once they respond.

**Do not do this more than a couple of months in advance in case plans change.
At this time, the following staff all use WhenToWork for scheduling:
Technicians
Triage Technicians
Vet Admins
Specialty Aides
Assistants
The Client Service Team reports to Jennifer Cox.
The Administrative Team reports to Joe Graham.
The DVMs report to Tommy Kozek.
Technicians and assistants must have their requests for time off in WhenToWork by the first day of the month prior to the month in which they are requesting time off.
For example: If I want to request off for December 15th, I must have my request in to WhenToWork no later than November 1st.
Schedules are made for an entire month at a time and team supervisors begin creating them on the 1st of each month. Supervisors complete the finished monthly schedule by the 15th.
Members of the Client Service Team, Administrative Team, or Doctor Team should refer to their supervisor for details on request off deadlines.
If you don't want to use PTO or you do not have enough PTO to cover time off, you can pick up an open shift within the same week you are requesting off. It must be in the same week to avoid unnecessary overtime.
You could also email or text other members of your team and see if anyone is willing to trade days with you. Again, this trade would need to occur within the same week to avoid overtime.
Either of these options would allow you to work enough hours in a given week to maintain full-time status, so you would not need to use PTO.
